Here they are in town on Friday, getting set to ride.

Jrm (upovrdwn, johnm , et al - hell, let's just call him Sybil) is contemplating all the beer!, heroin, pot, and sex about to be had and is checking to see if his herpes scab has finally dropped off.

The Sock is smiling broadly because she knows her scab is gone.

Here's Cindy on her second ever MTB ride making quite a splash.

Down from Oregon with her hubster Curtis, this lucky girl won an ON ONE frame at the schwag party!

...or something like that. Oh, wait, it's summer vacation for school teachers Curtis and Cindy. Thank goodness you're not setting a bad example for your students.
He's a lucky one.parkmeister

Because he's married to Cindy.

Meeting people like this at the gatherings in addition to seeing old riding buddies is what makes these get-togethers the most-fun-thing-to-do-on-the-planet.

BTW, Curtis, your Element sweatshirt was left in my car. Contact me so I can return it to you (it's too damn big for me, anyway).

I had a great time riding, camping, shuttling, and partaking of fermented barley beverages with this guy. But for the life of me, I still don't know what the fuck a 'moschika' is!?!

Whoa, I just got a sudden craving to chow down on some donuts!

Pauley Creek perhaps? I dunno.

This is typical scenery for the area, with nothing but trees and dirt and rocks for miles and miles. I can't wait til they put in a paved road with a Starbucks and a Blockbuster, then it will reeaalllly be nice.

That's Moschika, Sybil, Cindy, and finally Curtis drying out his armpit hair. Dude, you want a little Secret??? (It's made for a woman, but strong enough for a man - whew!).

Some riff raff we met on the trail.parkmeister
Jul 1, 2003 10:44 AM
There goes the neighborhood. It's Francis and some of his internet geek buddies on First Divide Trail. I swear they let anyone on these trails nowadays. Sheesh.

Further on down the trail, I rounded a corner and came face to grubby face with some more riff raff: Flat Eddy and his little urchin Nick. What's this world coming to?!? And dude, what's up with the panhandling, this ain't friggin' San Francisco. Get a damn job for crissakes; I mean, c'mon, Thousand Oaks ain't THAT far away!!!

I have zero pictures from Saturday's awesome, awesome, awesome 'B' group ride down Pauley Creek. I'll have to torture you all with a write up about it later...

Here's some the crowd back at camp after the schwag fest in town.

The Feds swooped down and confiscated all the heroin and pot only to set up their own private party down the road. Bastards.

It was a smaller turnout than I expected since a bunch of WEINIES decided to shuttle again - for the second, no, third, no, fourth damn day in a row!!! Oh well, that's your loss (sort of, I guess, well, OK, not really).

This is another really fun trail (is there any other kind in D-ville?) with a good workout thrown in. The short steep climbs going out and coming back get you anaerobic over and over and over again.

Riding with me are Derby, Big Boulder, Paul J, Finch Platte, Johnny Spammer, and Jm.
thanks everyone, and PaulJ tooderby
Jul 1, 2003 4:21 PM
PaulJ was my first contact with the Gathering group. After some bike suspension discussions on the What Bike forum he suggested I show up at the gathering. When I arrived early Saturday morning it looked like the camp site was really packed. But he told me "no one goes without food or a place to sleep".

I rode Bullards on Saturday led by UncleMTB (Tim), congrats on the awesome fork!, and Eric the sweeper (thanks!). That was fun. The heat made it pretty exhausting. I wanted to do that "easy" ride to save energy for the North Yuba + Hall's Ranch/ Fiddle Creek Ridge on Sunday.

Sunday I was about to set out and ride it on my own but PaulJ decided to ride it too and we rode out with this crew pictured (and Gary behind the camera). The out and back was enough this time.

Give a shout or drop an email if you guys ever get to Marin. I can show you some really fun legal singletrack.

Great time. Great people. Thanks Francis, and Greg, and all behind the scene at MTBR, Jed and Suzie.

You meet the nicest people riding mountain bikes!

I'll look you up for some Marin rides...UncleMTB

Glad you had a good time and got a couple of rides in.

Are you able to make it up to the Tahoe gathering?

Tim
Also up for a Marin ride....Ebo
Jul 1, 2003 7:37 PM
Hey Ray. Super time riding with you at Bullards. Glad the easy "C" ride was only 28 miles being that it was close to 100 degrees. Sure made the suds go down easy. Sounds like Paul J and yourself had a good ride on Sunday as well. He seems like he would be a great riding partner. If by chance you are heading for the Tahoe gathering, I could probably squeeze you in our campsite. Tim (UncleMTB) may also be joining us. Keep in touch.

Eric
I rarely saw PaulJ riding, did he take short cuts?derby
Jul 2, 2003 10:34 AM
There weren't any shortcuts, sooo he must be a fast rider.

I'd really like to make it to Lake Tahoooeee (spelled as it is pronounced correctly). But I'll be returning from a week of sportbike touring the Sierra looping from Marin to Sqwaw Valley through Yosemite and to the Laguna Superbike races. I may need to let my wrist recover for a weekend. Naah. I'll rally the energy by then. But will likely drive up very early Saturday morning to avoid the traffic. I've always wanted to do the Heavenly to Toads ride. Sounds like a plan!

Please save a small spot for my tent on Saturday night. But no worries if it's to filled up by then.

Yeh...he even looks fast...I'll save you a spot.....nmEbo

I doctored it up a bit to try and make a boring shot a little more interesting. Digital cameras are the bomb!

If you enjoyed the pics a fraction of how much I enjoyed the weekend, then I guess I did OK.

Thanks again Mr. and soon-to-be Mrs. Lord of Dancers!!!!!
