Planning a day trip to Lynchburg. What are the must ride trails? Any pointers and advice is great.

Thanks,

In town you have two very good options. Peaksview park has about 9 miles of singletrack opened up a couple of months ago. It's where I do my after work rides. Short climbs and nice singletrack with a few technical sections. A great place for intermediate riders. But it does get a little muddy after a rain.

Candlers mountain has more trails but a lot more climbing and more technical sections. It's also easier to get lost at Candlers, but it is ridable soon after a rain. Must ride? I'd go with Candlers but you may want to find someone to show you around. I don't know the trails at Candlers that well. Check the Central Virginia Mountain Bike assoc website at http://www.lynchburg.net/cvma/ and also at the local bike shops Bikes Unlimited and Blackwater Bike shop. If you decide on peaksview email me, I'd be glad to show you around if I'm not working.
