South Lake Tahoe info(2 posts)

South Lake Tahoe inforickm

I will be in South Lake tahoe for a few days next month. I am looking for some local knowledge on the best trails to ride while there. I will only have one or two days to ride. I have heard that the Flume is a dont miss, and Mr Toads is good too. Since I am only there for an extended weekend, should I bring my bike or rent? Should I bring a hardtail or FS bike? If not, where is the best place to rent? Which are the best rides? Is there a group ride I can hook up with on Saturday or Sunday? I am an intermidiate to advanced rider. Does someone have local knowledge?

You can rent very good bikes at Spooner Lake lodge for the Flume and Tahoe Rim trails: http://www.theflumetrail.com

I'd suggest taking the Mt. Rose shuttle and doing the Rim and Flume trails together. Can only ride Rim trail on even days so be sure to take that into consideration. Lots of ways to get 30+ miles. Videos and maps at: http://arnica.csustan.edu/mtbike
