Weird seatpost dilemma.......(5 posts)

Weird seatpost dilemma.......Blue 'Goose
Aug 4, 2003 4:59 AM
So Saturday I take my Epic over to Lebanon Hills (Eagan,

Minnesota, don't you know....pictures forthcoming) and

ran into a curious dilemma I've not experienced before..

As I was climbing up a hill I noticed my seatpost gradually

lowering while I was on a climb. All by itself despite being

clamped.

I get to the top of the hill and the seat is super low like

a BMX or downhill type seat.

I look carefully and there's grains of sand all over the

seatpost collar and seatpost (did I lay it down for a second?

I honestly can't remember doing that).

I remove the seat and brush the sand off the post and look down

the hole and get rid of any linger grains of sand and reinstalled

and off I went.

Anyone run into this before? Weird. Aliens?

I recently moved from the Twin Cities area to South Dakota, but I happened to be back in the area and decided to hit a trail just west of Minneapolis (Camp Manitou in Monticello). This is the second season riding my 1x1 and I've never had a problem with seat post slippage. Upon completing my ride I noticed the post had slipped a good 2 inches. Well I've been back in South Dakota for a couple of weeks and the seat post issue seems to be resolved. Humidity? Aliens? I don't know, there's something strange going on over there in Minnesota.

Mine did that once, when the bike was new, first decent length ride.

Just reclamped and carried on, forgot about it until you just reminded me ! Weird.....

..in Stockton, Aliens have been abducting Specialized Enduro's and take them to their space ships. There they remove the seatpost, stick a---- probes down inside them and do weird experiments. They then remove their memories and return them to their riders. Mulder and Scully have been notified and are coming. A rash of flat tires have been reported in Bakersfield. Film at eleven.....
