Heading to Jackson, MI this weekend. Any recommendations on where to ride in around the area?

Jackson, eh? Make sure to visit the prison gift store.

If you head west, Fort Custer is a short trip off I-94. If you head east towards Ann Arbor then check out the famed Poto trail. Check out the trail review section for more info...

But most of them are about an hour drive from Jackson. I think there might be some trails are closer, but I'm not familiar with the local area there. So I don't think I can help you much, if you don't want to drive more than an hour.

Fort Custer is a must ride, IMO. I've ridden both Red and Green Loops.

You might find this map helpful.

Another one is about the same distance from Jackson is Poto trail, or Potawatomi in Pinckney, just North of Ann Abor. This trail is supposed to be one of the nicest trails in MI. I've never ridden there yet, but will definitely ride there in a few weeks.

Here's a map to Poto from Jackson.

Yankee Springs is a bit further than where you might want to ride, however, it's also a very nice trail.

Here's its map, in case if you're interested. I also rode this trail, the entire 13 mile loop. There are several bail out points along the trail. I had lots of fun, except the sand....

Hope this helps.

Have fun!

...easiest way to gauge which trails are nearby. Jackson would be in the "Potawatomi Chapter". But don't hesistate to check out the S/E chapter. Maybury, Island Lake, Novi Tree Farm, and Highland are pretty close to AA (about an hour, like MI-Tammy said).

Hope that helps,

for all the feedback. Not sure if I want to drive an hour though. What about Ella Sharpe? Anyone been there? Is Poto an hour away as well?
