| I'm gonna sue! | Mike T. Sep 10, 2003 7:58 AM | | Heck I invented the Geek Wave Radiation hat about ten years ago for my son who was (is) a compu-geek. We never decided if the hat was better at keeping geek rays out or in. No matter.
Anyway I'm gonna sue the arse off 'em! |
| test - ignore | test Sep 11, 2003 1:13 PM | | Here are some of my pics from the NAG. I had such a great time and other than the weather being a bit warm it all went fine. Sorry for the delays in the mornings, especially before the memorial, but I'm sure y'all understand where my priorities lay that day. Only 2 flats that I know of, no mechanicals, no injuries related to trail riding (other than the broken helmet!), and lots of happy riders. General comments seem to be that they are among the finest trails most folks had ridden. I would have to agree.
I'd like to thank everyone for coming and making this a success, for being a part of the memorial for Bennett, and being foolish enough to let Simon into the camp. We had attendees from at least the following locations-
Grand Forks, ND
Bismarck, ND
Fargo, ND
Miles City, MT
Duluth, MN
Minneapolis area, MN
Little Falls, MN
Chicago, IL
Kentucky
Iowa
Denver, CO
Boulder, CO
Thanks to Jeremy at the Medora Campground, to Simon at Dakota Cyclery, to Ranger Curt Glasoe for helping get the memorial plaque up, and to the weather gods for not raining on us!

Second Day (Saturday) - Bennett Creek to Maah Daah Hey
We had a memorial service for a friend of mine, Bennett Kryzsko. Here's a link to a description. Some of the group rode the 3 miles of Bennett Creek, then north to the China Wall & past. Some rode Bennett, then south. Two of our group did over 40 miles in 97 degree heat! Ouch...
Closeup of the memorial. Thanks to Lakeraven for the awesome chainring art. I hope I get something this cool when I die. The trail snakes up throug the trees on the side of the buttes and suddenly opens up wide, and this is what you see. The trail loops right past the memorial marker, then drops down into the valley (you can just see it to the right of the post down there....)

Panoramic view of the plateau that the memorial sits on

Friends and family (l-r, Randy (dijridoo), Deb (Bennett's girlfriend at the time of his death), Carolyn (Bennett's mother), and Pat (Bennett's brother). The bike is the IF mentioned in the link above.

Deb, smiling up a climb as usual

Night ride - somehow I got talked into a night ride. Damn glad I did, as it was extremely cool to see the lights bobbing up the exposed hillsides. We got up top, toasted a great NAG, then headed down through the cloying dust to that evening's swagfest and drunken bike tricks.

More to come as I scan them. |
