John McColgan took this with a Digital camera.
Since he was working while he took the picture, he cannot sell or profit from it, so he should at least be recognized as the photographer of this once-in-a-lifetime shot. |

This is from just outside my mom's place in Long Beach, Newfoundland. It was about 1 mile (yes, Mile) long when it first came into the bay. What you see is about 5-7 Km away, and many pieces are after breaking off.
It's amazing how much this piece of ice affected the weather in the area. I guess it's like an ice cube floating in a glass. Just a really big ice cube, in a big, salty glass.
