| Hey Fast Eddy or Battman...... | AK Ken Jan 15, 2004 6:32 AM | | I mean, Unca MTB, how did you guys haul the bikes in the camper?

| It was an ugly affair... | UncleMTB Jan 15, 2004 8:40 AM | | ...
We just rolled them in and sort of wedged them so they wouldn't move around a lot.
When we were in the camper it was a major pain.
We never did figure out how to get one rider and one bike together in the shower for bathing, so for solidarities sake we remained soiled along with our trusty steeds.
A front receiver bike mount setup was discussed for future trips.
Hope that helps.

| Agreed | Fast Eddy Jan 15, 2004 12:24 PM | | By the end of the trip we had locations for the two bikes and the two front wheels that at least allowed us to move around, but it was a pain.
A front receiver would be the ticket. |
| Sounds good..... | AK Ken Jan 15, 2004 1:11 PM | | I was thinking of doing the same thing just because I don't like all the road grime and dust and junk that gets on the bikes on the rear receiver--way better to have them covered with bug guts in the front.
We rented a camper van a couple of years ago and brought 2 fork mounts with us. Went to Home Depot, bought a hunka 2x8 and some screws and mounted the fork deals to the board. Cut it to fit in between the cabinets in the rear, but we had to take the pedals off.
It wasn't the greatest, but for a temporary deal it was okay.
Thanks for the info.

| Tim's got that fork-mount setup in the Glomar for 4 bikes but... | Fast Eddy Jan 15, 2004 7:50 PM | | ...it wouldn't work in the camper because the aisleway is too narrow. My 28" bars barely fit into the door under the best of circumstances. I could imagine some kind of hack job where one bike would attach on each side of the camper door in an up-and-down fashion, but I'd be worried since I couldn't see them. That front rack would be the real deal. |
| Re: front receiver.... | Monte Jan 16, 2004 6:22 AM | | we did that back in 80 something on a roadtrip from WA to Joshua Tree. 4-5 guys in a truck with a canopy, wanted access to the back. Worked great. Sort of screws with the headlights at night though, we just moved the rack to the back receiver when we really needed to.
