| Geeze... This feels like moving out of my old apt... | Steve-O Jan 23, 2004 8:01 AM | | I've been reading all the RIP Passion posts below. It reminds me of moving out of my last apartment before I got married, bought a condo, and had a kid. Lots of fine, fine memories of the single days in the old apartment. The new living quarters are good but they just didn't have that comfy feel that the old place did. It took some time to adjust to the new home but I did; similar to how I'll probably adjust to a new Passion and new tech forums...
I started lurking on Passion in 1997 and took about a year to make my first post. It gave me a place to suck up knowledge about a hobby that none of my close friend or family shared. Through MTBr, I've probably met about a dozen people who share this passion for cycling. I'd suspect that if I didn't visit this place every day I would have forgotten cycling long ago and probably picked up some other passing hobby to help me cope with the day-to-day stuff. Cycling now plays a pretty big part of my life. It's how I get to work; what I do on the weekends; where I spend my money.
I'm not excited about changing forums like many of you. Something seems to be lost in the move. I do value the info and friendships I've acquired here and hope that some of it will continue after these boards are gone. Thats all... |
| I dunno...... | celly Jan 23, 2004 8:31 AM | | I've never liked any of my apartments that much, even the two floor version I had in Bermuda with a balcony and a view of the ocean. I'm diggin' the house we live in now.
I embrace change because I get bored easily. |
| Hope Spike doesn't embrace change | AK Ken Jan 23, 2004 12:04 PM | | when she gets bored, or you may be moving back to some of those apartments. =)

| You obviously don't know her very well....... | celly Jan 23, 2004 12:16 PM | | It takes a special breed to put up with me. She's made it 5+ years so I think I'm safe. A change to another webforum software is pretty minor compared to that. Wait, isn't a change in webforum software pretty minor vis a vis just about anything?
Glad you're posting on the new one. I'm pretty indifferent about whether people leave or not. We all make choices. I've lost track of all the "new" posters anyhow on this "old" version of Passion. The real Passion "community" died to me long ago before it got so popular. Where are chewbacca, spater, Deadly Tedly, Shiva and Big Dave et al anyhow? There have been a LOT of others who have left through the years long before this as well. Passion will be different, but it won't necessarily be a bad thing. The intent is still there. Lots of people who love biking and want to share their experiences.
See you in the new board. You coming down to skog's gathering in July or August? You should. |
| If I ever get to a gathering | AK Ken Jan 23, 2004 1:14 PM | | that one would be top on the list.

| Seriously, do what you can...... | celly Jan 23, 2004 1:16 PM | | Canmore is definitely a special place. Greg did a great job of his last one. I'm sure looking forward to doing it all over again. |
