what an awesome time we had. we've been at it 4 years in a row now and it just gets better. (not necessarily my lap time) mtbr had 3 teams.
1. sponsored wtb-jericho team who kicked serious ass on their singlespeeds and won men's national championships! woohoo! mark weir had the fastest lap (again) at 48 and something minutes.
2. the mtbr studs - won 2nd place at the 149-199, 5 man team. pictured here is the ringer dave ykidis.
3. the last but not the least, mtbr nerds - the 8 man team who had a really really really good time. much props to oliver with the fast :48 minute lap time (francis at :49). zonic man who cooked up the sweet tri-tip for dinner! derek who pulled a 1:02 lap time with a cheap petzl head light. francis who had the best looking bike in the race. capm who pulls a :52 after having not ridden for months while smoking and drinking (bastid!), me for not dying during one of my worst asthma and allergy attacks ever. paul w, for pulling for the team and taking the last 2 laps before noon while everyone else got their drink on. and chuck for bringing his wife and our mascot barry who entertained the pit.

this is the steepest hill in the world especially after almost an hour of going all out. i chase him with my camera because that section is pretty harsh on the single speed. he wasn't about to get caught walking with my camera!

Thats actually Jon Brown. He ended up 2nd in the National Solo division about 25 mins or so behind Tinker.

the beloved gatorade/clif bar girls on hurl hill. serving the weak and hungry. they were enthusiastically cheering the racers too. much needed especially at that section.
