| 36incher????? | evant Sep 22, 2002 2:25 AM | | I think there know as texas fireman crisers. They are a 36in bike, very cool. I've seen 2 of them. One was at a race in bananna belt last year and the other on a girl rides around on in fort Collins.
I'm stumped my LBS mentioned they where cheap 650is for the bike. It not a light weight race bike, more of a consept like bike.
I'm selling my XC race rig, cuze I dont race no mo' I want something fun to ride to cross train my road racing. a 29in ss sounded just right, but i may not be man enough for 36in SS....

| IMHO, 36"ers are only for crusing town&beach. | Cloxxki Sep 22, 2002 4:40 AM | | Don't expect to be able to anything remotely technical on such a bike, although I won't question if you're man enough to handle one.
I suspect they'll be great for ultra-relaxed rides over sandy soil.
Wheels seem to big to be manouvrable. 29" is about the limit of what a fast bikedesign will take.
The parts on your 26" race bike are still great to use to build up a niner, jsut get a frameset (can be cheap from Surly soon) and some wheels (any 20+mm rimmed road wheelset will do just fine if you don't do anything extreme on it). Or just get a cheapo 29" bike (Like the 599 Nishiki), use the frame+fork+wheels and put the rest of the parts on a commuter bike or give them away.
Good luck with your decision! |

The bike you saw at the BB race has been ridden on alot of technical rides by a very competent rider. The big problem with them is that they are heavy, and have limited, read one, tire selection. They make a good cruiser though and are pretty cheap. They even make a springer front end available.
Wait for a real 29"er of some sort. |
