Saw a pair of the new Mavic Speed City 700c UST wheels yesterday, OOO LA LA.

Cool grey ano look, with 24 straight pull spokes, rim/disc brake rims, disc ready hubs, UST. Very trick. No word on the weight yet---But they look ultra bombproof. Will get a pic online when I can.

Also saw the new Kevlar Nanoraptor, what can I say, it folds? No weight check on it either, maybe today---
Yea, look great...but will it fit a fattie? (Pics inside)2melow

I heard the rim is only 19 or 20 mm wide...

...a 2.6" tire on a 20mm rim (26"). No problem until I dropped the pressure below about 25psi and then it felt squirrely in the corners.

Did a little messing around with the rims in question today. They are even narrower than the Kysriums, though not by much. Not sure what led Mavic to that conclusion considering what market this wheelset is intended for as I understand it, which is the cross/hybrid/28"/29" style bike.

However the Kysriums have held onto the Nanoraptor really well, even when used for the Great Divide run last year by Mike Curiak. I don't see any problem using the Speed City wheels with the 2.1 style tires but will have to reserve total judgement until they get ridden some----

Back in the day I used to run 17mm Sun rims on my 26" bikes but had to keep the pressure fairly high and run 50 lbs instead of 40 to keep them from feeling rolly. Still had about the same amount of traction due to the casing profile?

Oh well that is part of it for now until things get standardized, try it strong and then try it light and see what works best.
