Reports are in that Gary Fisher handed "a handful of celebrities... including Robin Williams, Eric Heiden and Nelson Vales" their asses in a recent 1.4 mile loop-ed bike race for charity. Dad crossed the finish in first place, earning nonprofit organization Trips for Kids a $2,000 paycheck in the process.
So the press release goes, "Trips for Kids chapters provide mountain bike outings and environmental education for kids who would not otherwise be exposed to such activities. On these outings, kids learn lessons in personal responsibility, achievement and environmental awareness through the simple act of having fun." Gary is on the TFK board of directors, but the stunning part of this story is the list of "Honorary Board Members" he rubs elbows with, including Huey Lewis, Pete Townshend, and Robin Williams. Who knew? |
