First ride on my new 29er(4 posts)

First ride on my new 29erwinston chaos

I know I'll be repeating what everyone else has been saying, but the big wheels on my new Mt. Tam (2002), roll very fast over just about everything. Coming from a KHS team softtail, it felt a little odd at first, but after about 30 minutes of riding it felt great. Quick handling and over the same terrain as I rode the softail, it seems smoother. I'd still be out riding if my battery didn't run out.

I'm riding it stock except my speedplay pedals,

My hats off to willets and fisher and all the other cats who brought the big wheel idea to life.

Congrats on the new bike! Had you ridden a niner before you decided to give 29" a go? Good to hear you like it as much as we do!
These positive reviews are starting to beore me.. ;-)
Anyone with a negative review that has gone back to 26"? Please?

I actually rode a 26" Cannondale during a trip to Hawaii with my wife. It was an offroad tour, and basically, I hated the bike. Way to low and my balance felt totally off. Not a fun experience. My wife got sick of me complaining about wanting my bike, instead of the cannondale.

Nothing more than a ride around the parking lot, but i own a bike shop that sells fisher and decided to find out what all the fuss was about. After checking out the forums and talking to my rep, It seemed like that advantages worked with my riding style. I've found that if you've got explosive power in your legs the extra energy needed for acceleration isn't a problem. And being that I'm coming from a softail that weighed 28lbs, I really don't notice the wheels being heavier.

I went on another ride tonight until my lights ran out of battery and am finding myself loving this bike more and more.
