Lube Job(2 posts)

I should probably be posting this on the Lube Board but as I was doing my post ride cleanup tonite and applying my lube of choice I got to thinking how happy I have been with the product. I have been using T-9 Boeshield for 9 years now and the stuff works. I get one large aerosol can a year on average and a medium drip bottle and maintain a pretty good size fleet of bikes with that amount which is an investment of about $18 per annum. Granted I only get to maintain bikes for about 7 months of the year.

For the life of me I can't remember the name of the dude who turned me on to Boeshield but he was a pretty famous mechanic that lived in Salida and died unexpectedly a number of years back. At the time I met him he was the DB team mechanic and he was in CB for FTBW. Then I found out a friend of mine from Seattle was selling the stuff through a Boeing connection somehow. He sent me a bunch of samples that I used for about 4 years---

It will not make a hosed chain come back to life, but it will keep a chain from premature hosing if applied regularly. I just spray a section and backwipe it with a rag, which cleans the chain nicely, and then apply a bead to the chain while backpedaling if the bike is going to sit over night. It does a great job of repelling dirt and moisture as advertised. I have applied it on many bikes at the trailhead that had other types of lube going already (albeit not enough!) with impunity. It also is a great Ti prep.

What's your brand?
