Happy Holidays from(8 posts)

Happy Holidays fromBigwheel

Tis a few days til the New Year
And all through the World
The pundits are fretting and worming with fear.
Will the new UCI ruling
On Bigwheels for use
In the Worlds Mtn Bike Racing many Venues
Make the need for more tires and forks and frames
To travel around the circuits endless roundy rounds.

But to all that know the truth
About Bigwheels already
There is no problema with this,
We're READY!

So bring on the goods and see how it goes,
And let the naysayers stay deep in the throws
Of the same kind of mind
That makes them the people that will be left far behind.

So on Fisher and Kenda and WTB,
Go all you custom makers that don't have to, but do.
Because 29"ers are here for a good long while,
True.

And to all of you riders that have been in since the start
Give yourselves some credit for being so smart
It isn't about braking performance or how much faster you'll be on paper,
It's all about getting out on a bike and meeting some folks
And passing along the trail at good speed, with safety and joy and a telling a few jokes.

So to all that have taken offense on this site, I wish you all a bad case of roids and to all others a good nite.

Happy New Year bro, nice words!

I toyed with the idea of calling in a 29" change to my yet-to-be-finished Curtlo....too late :(

oh well, small wheels for me in the new year. The first of it anyways...:)

A 29'er would have been cool, now you have reason to get just one more rig.....

since it's a 26" bike I'll keep this brief here.

Was quoted "5-7 weeks". Should have said "5-7 months".
Supposed to order components "the week after Christmas". Nope.

my beef is that several boutique builders seem to lead their customers down this path, to the point of being trendy. "It's just what they do". Why? Why not just say up front - "Dude you'll be lucky to get this by year's end." Because I'll go somewhere else? Maybe. Maybe not. But don't blow smoke through my chamois. Please. I was *this* close to cancelling the freakin thing based on date creep alone.

Builder: if you're reading this, no hard feelings right buddy? Just want my frame :)

I'm sure he'll start on your frame when he finishes off his Xmas ganja... like by late spring...

:)

wait, you're riding with me tonight.

Thanks. Now I picture him looking over a big pile of tubing, going:

"Which one was HW's? That one? Nooo.... I'm so f'ed up!"

and then bursting into a stoney laugh attack.

meanwhile I'm looking out the window for UPS.
