So I took the plunge.....new rigmtnbikej

So I wanted a new short travel XC bike.....however, I also wanted a 29er. So this is what I decided to get: '04 Gary Fisher Sugar 293. Local shop cut me a good deal on it. I swapped out all the XT,LX,Bontarager parts for my XTR drivetrain. 29.6 lbs on the LBS scale.

Took it out for the first ride today. Noticed that it was a little slower to accelerate off a stop, but once you get it moving it is great. Felt great on the climbs. Tried to stay in my middle ring like I do on my 26" hardtail. Found that on most of the climbs I could, and if not I was able to get outta the saddle and it felt a lot like a singlespeed to me. Loved the way the larger wheels rolled over rough terrain. Definately smoothed it out. Was affraid the 85mm fork would be too short, but was nore than pleased with it.

I am hooked. Can't wait to ride it again.

Have fun! I have a 292 and love it and the 04 solved the short BB issue.
Should have 100 mm of travel if its an '04Stuart
