Anyone think a 29'r would be able to replace a 26'r and road bike(700'r)? A sort of one do-all bike.

what you're going to use it for. Any time you try to go with one bike, you will compromise something. In this case, it will not be road bike fast, but will be in improvement in the mtb category. If you will end up doing more road, consider a cyclocross bike. Otherwise the 29er is great if you will do more dirt.
