I am trying to buy a gift for a intermediate Mountain biker. I have been looking at reviews for days and I was hoping that I could get some advise as what products are best to buy. I am looking to purchase clipless pedals and shoes to go with them as well as a target heartrate monitor. Please help!!

.... the product reviews section on this website. There's some good info in there.

As far as pedals, lots of people really like eggbeaters... haven't tried them myself. Shoes.... I like Sidi Dominators.... they're a little spendy though.

Others will post more stuff.

Good luck!

like regular shoes, should be tried on.

Pedals are a matter of personal prefrence so if you know what pedals the biker likes then you could purchase those, wrap them and tell them you will get them the shoes they like.
