| think Paris-Brest-Paris | club Dec 16, 2003 2:16 PM | | a brevet is a long-distance tour/race where you're expected to finish under a certain time, and is "contested" by riders on road bikes with full fenders and lights. I believe on the longer ones they're required to stop for x amount of time, unlike ultramarathon events like RAAM where you can ride 24 hours a day if your body will let you. Most famous brevet is the 750 mile Paris-Brest-Paris, held every 4 years. You got to complete a series of successively longer qualifying brevets to even qualify to attend PBP. Since I don't speak frog I can't tell you what brevet literally means, but that's what it is. I bet google would know... |
