All damn summer I battled the bb squeaks.
I tried grease, loctite, and teflon tape.
The tape seems to work for about a week or two and then I had to replace or listen to the squeak again. Red loctite did nothing.
I finally tried anti seize on the threads and spindle and have not heard one squeak yet. I bought a tube of it at an auto parts store. I think it was 3 or 4 bucks.

1. Teflon tape around the BB cartridge & adapter threads — two wraps.

2. Smear anti-sieze around the BB shell (frame) threads.

3. An honest 50 ft-lbs of torque on both the cartridge and adapter.

This has been working great for me for years now. Bonus is that removal is as smooth as the tread on a Tioga City Slicker.
