bar length and steering?(2 posts)

bar length and steering?keen

I am running a 75mm stem w/ a 69.5 / 70 deg. head angle. My steering got twitchy after jumping from the 90mm stem. I was told I could lengthen my bars to help. I am @ 25" width now, would going to a 26" be worthwhile? Thanx

I'd be pretty surprised if you noticed any difference. You could adjust your hand position that much just by trimming your grips a 1/2" and moving your brakes and shifters, if you really wanted to give it a try. Besides, you gotta be careful about getting your bars too wide if you have any tight spots on the trails.

I wouldn't be surprised if you ride with the shorter stem for awhile and get used to the way it feels.
