How do you change a seatpost clamp to QR?NASALaunch1

Hi. If your seatpost clamp requires a hex wrench to loosen/tighten it to adjust the seat, how can you convert it to a quick release one? will any QR seatpost clamp off of another mt bike work on it? thanks,
dan

makes just the QR. I've never tried to convert a bolted clamp over, so i'm not sure how the QR will work. You can buy a seat post clamp and qr for a couple more bucks than just the qr though. If that is what you want just measure the outer diameter of your seat tube where the clamp goes, it should be close the same size as the front der.
You have to get the clamp with the QRetal

Most likely you will have to replace the whole thing as the clamps that come with hex bolts don't seem to work with QR's (at least mine didn't work). A shop might have a stock of cheap QR's that will fit your bike or you might have to spring for an expensive one (25$) like the ones from salsa or hope. They do come in different sizes so you have to get the right one.

Salsa Flip-Lock - about $35Mikey

You want a Salsa Flip-Lock Seatpost Collar. It slips on in place of your current seatpost collar. I got one a couple of months ago after getting tired of pulling out an allen wrench to drop my seat for descents.

I got one at an LBS for $35, only a couple bucks more than mail-order of about $25 + shipping.

Check out IRD Tail Fin...næstep

I read complaints about Salsa binders every now and then. Remarkable to me, since I've never even had a slippage problem with generic seat post binders.

But a brand of seat post binder that is often mentioned that really takes the cake is the IRD (Interloc Racing) Tail Fin. Looks great, supposedly has a slightly different (non-regressive) cam design from Salsa to help prevent slippage, and is priced around $30.

They're kind of hard to find but I believe cambria is selling them.
