| I cleaned my chain but there's still some.... (x -post) | gspot Dec 31, 2003 11:54 AM | | black gritty crap betweern all of the plates. I soaked it in simple green for a little while and then swished it all around. It came out relativley clean, but there's still crap in the plates. Do I try to clean it some more, in hopes that it will all go away, or just leave it be and relube?
thanks in advance |

I soak my chains in simple green and then spray them clean with a hose using the fast narrow stream. It's easy (I hate scrubbing) and leaves my chains free of grit. |
| the "divorce" method is flawless... | JimC. Dec 31, 2003 1:53 PM | | except for the possible divorce. If you have a SRAM chain, undo the quick link and hang it in the dishwasher and clean it in there, then just reinstall. If she isn't looking, slip in your cassette too. comes out like new. I also switched away form oil lubes as it attracts too much dirt. Pedro's Ice wax works best of me, but that just my. 02.

I thought they were pretty gimmicky, but I gave this thing a whirl and was really amazed. It did a really thorough job of cleaning and was mess-free. Campmor.com has one for 20 bucks. |
