Being an aussie free rider in 38 degrees celcius (over 100 degrees fahrenheit) summers, I don't want straps to go around my knees, what is working for you?

or however its spelled. Good for hot weather. But not so good for protecting the calf muscle (ie there's nothing there). Check out RockGrdn (sp?), not familiar w/ how hot they can get though. Also a good place to post this question would be on the DH/FR forum.
I had thoseJimC.

and riders here are dumping them as the 1) won't stay in place and 2) are not the greatest protection for our riding (FR). Most shops have stopped carrying them in Vancouver, but then, we don't do a lot of XC, but then again, mine would NOT stay in place for the short amount of pedaling I do. Fellow riders had the same remarks.

i've started using them for xcish type riding so lots of pedaling and they stay on me well. I've also taken them DHing, and they have done well for me there too, though after a crash i could see the part where my shin would have hit a rock as there was a nice friction burn and some skin missing, better than hitting a rock w/o protection.

Jim, what are you using now?
I bought the new RoachJimC.

FR leg pads. I too took a hit on the 'shore with the Dainese, and would have died without them, but the damage to my leg from the blow was so severe I knew I needed more.

but that's just me, I'm sure others like them, and a guy yesterday was really pleased to grab mine 2nd hand from me.

They might have been fine but I couldn't keep them in place.
Good call Jim!!islander

These new Roaches are the bomb!! You'll like them infinitely more than the italian stuff. Highly recommended.
