bmx bb vs euro bb(2 posts)

bmx bb vs euro bbmt
Jun 27, 2003 11:40 AM
I just posted this on the DH/freeride board, but I bet you guys have a lot of experience with this too.

I just got a frame that has a bmx bb and I'm wondering if this was the right decision. I'm more familiar with the euro bb and what I've read, the bmx bb take more time and effort to service but can also be more durable. I'm not into doing crazy things on my bike, but I do weigh about 200 lbs, so is the hassle of a bmx bb worth it?

A BMX BB is not a big hassle, just follow the directions when installing it and it can give you years of confidence. If you are planning on going with BMX style steel cranks it is the cheaper BB option. On the other hand if you are looking to use regular MTB cranks an adaptor and a traditional BB is the only way to make it work.
