| Best V-Brake Pads? | joeg26er Sep 18, 2001 7:32 PM | | Who makes the best V-brake pad?
My stock pads that came on my AR40's wore out in 3 rainy rides.
Good thing I have TCC rims - they wore the pads down to the metal base.
Are the Jagwire pads any good? |
| ahhhhh.......well........ | heff® Sep 18, 2001 7:57 PM | | The pads that came on your AR's are some of the best on the market. From my experience, Koolstops last longer, by about a ride. I dunno what you were riding before, or (really....shoot me.....) what TCC rims are. If they're ceramic coated, make SURE you get ceramic rims. Just throwing that out.
I used AR 50s, and I would wear pads out in four rides, more or less. Switched to disks, only change them once a year now.....twice a year if I ride in the rain alot.

| TCC note | melanthius Sep 20, 2001 10:52 AM | | Just to let heff in on the scoop, TCC is Sun's spify rim coating "Tungston Cobalt Carbide" or somthing similar. It does the same thing as a ceramic coating, and ceramic pads should be used.

Now I ride Real pads, they're expensive to buy cos they're cartridge, but once set up the pads are cheaper to replace. As for stopping power, no major complaints over normal pads and they are durable. Dont kick alu off your rims either. |
