| Are Gore Brake Cables worth the $$? | dbyers Sep 21, 2001 8:36 AM | | Considering a set of Gore cables for my Paul Motolites. Wondering if the performance and durability is equal to their price?
Thanks. |
| Quality cables definitely are | L7 Sep 21, 2001 9:00 AM | | I've never tried the Gore cables, but I'm running Quality teflon-coated cables and housing on my DS1 and love them. They don't use a full-length liner like the Gores, but they do come with sealing hardware and everything, so your cable system still ends up fully sealed. And it feels like there's nothing between the levers and the brakes. I believe that the qualities are about half the price of the gores, but you might have to order them through a bike shop. |
| agree on Quality cables | derby Sep 21, 2001 4:36 PM | | Huge difference in Quality cables from normal sheepo cables. I've been using them for a couple years with any cheepo housings and can't tell the difference between the teflon coated and non-coated (but then I lube mine, s'pose others don't and it might make a difference then). The machine finished Quality cables make a huge difference. - ray |
| Quality cables better be good, considering where they come from... | næstep Sep 21, 2001 4:55 PM | | Quality's cables come from JagWire, who make the cool braided cables on high-end Schwinns, as well as Avid's Flak Jackets.
It was because of this I just picked up a set, but haven't installed them yet.

| wow...thanks for the info | fonseca Sep 26, 2001 10:59 PM | | I located jagwire's site at http://www.jagwire.com.tw/ and they have some cool stuff. Their 6" and 8" rotors are a unique design, although I wonder if they flex more than standard designs. Also, their mickey adjuster looks like a handy item. I think when it comes time to replace my flak jacket housing, I will switch to silver :P |
