What other brand pads fit Arch Supreme's???GerberMultiT00L

Hey everyone, quick question. I have a new (used) bike on the way that has Arch Supreme brakes on it. The bike comes with standard rims/brake pads. The first thing I wanna do is swap out the rims for a set of Crossmax UST's(new). The Crossmax have ceramic braking surfaces of course. I called a few places on line today to buy Avid ceramic brake pads but nobody had them in stock. Will Shimano pads fit in the Arch Supreme brake pad cartridge? Other brands?

Thanks,

Gerb

no, shimano pads won't fit the arch supreme's pad holders, although avid's new brakes have pad holders that will fit shimano's replacement pads.
i'd just get some koolstop ceramic v-brake pads, they're cheap and work well and don't use any pad holders at all- in my experience getting new pads in the pad holders is a real pain, more so than just removing the old pads and putting new ones on.

you got about the best rim brake around. Too bad they don't make them any longer. Shimano pads won't work. I've used nothing but Kool Stop ceramic pads in mine and couldn't be more pleased.
You have to use Avid Rim Wrangler 1 (WR1) pads...CMC

and they should still be available (they're made by Kool Stop). If not, you could buy the new WR2 cartridges that are Shimano compatable. The cartridges are about $20 and the pads should be less than $10.
