EBC Red Brake Pads.. GET THEM(8 posts)

EBC Red Brake Pads.. GET THEMzumble
Sep 24, 2001 3:13 PM
I just got a pair of EBC Reds for my shimano XT brakes. WOW! They are soooo much better than the stock pads! I only got one set (2 pads) so I put them in the front. My rear pads got some oil in them so I moved my old front pads to the back. The EBC Reds grip like crazy! I thought I would have to break them in. Nope! I squeezed the front brakes with the same force I use to stop the bike at a 5mph roll.. the rear end of the bike flies up! Crazy! I'm going to have to relearn to modulate these brakes.
I have them too they rockSplat

I'm going to order a set for the back brakes soon. The stopping power is insane. I had EBC Green Stuff pads for my car. They were awesome too. EBC makes some great braking products.

if you do any downhilling they will be gone super quick. i wore my front pads from brand new down to the metal in two days at plattekill. other than that they are great though. supposedly the gold pads grip the same or better and wear much longer but produce more heat (so they can't be used for downhill) i'm not sure if they are safe with 8" rotors though.
btw- i have xt's with 8" front and rear

Two days!? Wow! No wonder they grip so hard! I don't do any major downhilling. I hope they last me a few months. I guess I'll see how long they will last. Damn, just ordered a set of reds for the back. Maybe I should have stuck with the green.
Did you convert to the 8" ?Obie

I tried to convert but the adapter did not seem to work. I just wanted to know how you did it.

I got them for my DH bike. The powed is sick but In one day the pads were shot. Go fore the Greens. The power is still good but it will last much longer.
