Another Magura Cult Membership request(5 posts)

Another Magura Cult Membership requestAdam

I'd like to apply for membership of the Magura Cult on the back of my ownership of a set of bright yellow HS33s. I don't do poetry, but I'll relate the first two months of their use:

I managed to crack the seatpost of my old aluminum frame and by a lucky freak this event coincided with Merlin offering Rock Lobster Team Ti frames at an absolutely lunatic price, so I managed to persuade the better half that I was worth this upgrade. I also persuaded her that the perfect birthday present for me would be a set of HS33s, and, bless her cotton socks, my darling obliged me.

Two months and the best part of 1000km later, I have ridden my new bike through the worst that the English weather can throw at me:- driving rain, axle-deep mud, snow and ice. Throughout these inclement tribulations, my Maguras have performed beautifully, never missing a beat. Admittedly, they were a right pain-in-the-arse to set up, but I haven't had to adjust them once.

People who choose not to ride during the winter months miss some of the best riding there is, and my Maguras are worth the money I spent on the just for the last two months of riding. I'm sure they'll keep on proving their value with every ride...

Cheers - Adam...

.....knew you were from England as soon as I spotted the reference to cotton socks! It's the only nation to make reference to them. I should know as I lived there for 2/5ths of my life.

Hey if you like HS-33's for bad weather riding you'd be exstatic with disc brakes. And yes I agree about winter riding - I just got back from my 4th snow ride in 6 days. It's awesome out there.

Anyhow mate here we go with a Maggie Cult induction.

Arise Newby Magurite Adam, mcm #1000 (for your kms ridden), go forth and help all Magurites both actual and potential while ignoring all childish arseholes who would drag down the name of Magura. Try to visit Brakes often and help out with Magura related info.

Check your ee-box for a slightly dated Cult newsletter.

Thanks Mike,

Got your email, and I'll wear my mcm# with pride! Actually, I'm a Kiwi, although I've lived in England for too bloody long now...

Can't do disk brakes as neither my frame nor forks have any disk mounts and I can't be arsed upgrading them or my hubs. The HS33s are fine in the wet/ice and seem to be unbeatable in the dry, so who needs the extra weight anyway?

Take care - Adam...

Would you believe some of the lighter disc brakes are lighter than your HS-33's?
