| v-brake help!! | daneil Jan 9, 2002 11:39 AM | | I'm looking to upgrade my horrible deore v's. but i'm a student and as such am on a wicked tight budget. i'm looking at the koski brake lite pros and they seem hard to beat for $19 each at cambria. Any other ideas? i'm just tired of the deore's, the flex, the squeaks. Maybe i should just buy some new pads? I don't know. i'm trying to do this cheaply. Help me. |
| Check Supergo for avid SD5's front and rear with levers for $39 | TC Jan 9, 2002 12:49 PM | | and rated 4.75 out of 5 here on mtbr. |
| New pads can make a huge difference | Mossy Jan 9, 2002 1:31 PM | | Ive had great luck with Kool Stop dual compounds (similar to WTBs -- in fact I think theyre made by KS). Doubt the Koskis will make that much of a difference
The Avid deal is a good one, if you need levers too.. |
| re: v-brake help!! | iRoNeTiK Jan 9, 2002 3:08 PM | | Daneil. I have the koski v-brake set on my Schwinn Moab 1. As far as performance..THEY WORK (They stop you ehe) I can't say much else I'm mean they are brakes and the stop your bike in a respectable distance so I'm happy with them I just need new brake pads for them. But anyways yeah 19 dollars is worth it. You can also get Deore LX for $17 at www.jensonusa.com and the Deore XT's are 25. So the koski seems to be right there in the middle in terms of price. Check out the reviews of each of those brakes at mtbr.com (duh)
