"International" Disc Brakes(5 posts)

"International" Disc BrakesJames

Hello:
I was hoping someone could answer a question I have regarding disc brakes. I recently got back into mountain biking; therefore, disc brakes are a little new to me. I bought a new frame today, Jamis Dakar Sport, and currently have a Giant Rainer, with entry-level disc brakes. I mail ordered the frame so I don't have it yet; however, the internet site said the frame has an "international disc mount! no v-brakes!" The question is, will my rear caliper, from my Giant, fit on Jamis' drop-outs? Sadly, the bike shop I went to had no idea what I was talking about--disc brakes aren't their "thing."

Any information that can be passed along would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
James

...Avid discs, which are far from "entry level", except for the levers. They will fit on your new frame. I would upgrade the levers to Avid Speed Dials.

Shaggy,
Thanks for the information; you're right they did fit. You're also right, I need to get new levels! But the frame is a nice ride!

Thanks again,

James

You're right I bought the frame from Jensonusa.com; it was a great deal, and it's a sweet ride! If you're looking for a new frame...this is it!
