Trying to fit hs-33s to a bmx jumping/street frame that is set for u-brakes (990s), any thoughts? I could see this guy I know who owns an arc-welding set-up..... Magura used to make adapters, but no more. Any input would be great. Thanks, tc in vt
Would brake therapy work? Help me out Heff. (nm)firecrotch

......not a disk, so no, Brake Therapy won't work.

Since Magura doesn't make the adapter anymore.......two places I would try. Either Thorsten at ThorUSA, or Trialsin.

You could also contact Magura for the dimensions of the old adapter, I'm sure they'd give them to ya. Give Jimi a yell.

Other than that, yeah, you could probably weld new brake bosses on, but you don't want to arc weld, depending on what the frame is made of.

Available from QBP (cat #BR9121 as of my old 1999 catalogue) is the Big Cheese linear brake mount. It's a pretty crude but, I suppose, effective looking setup consisting of a brakearch with canti studs which attatches to a frame or fork via hose clamps. I've never used one personally as I've always had bikes with normal cantilever studs - but I did have a friend who thought they worked well enough for a couple of his bikes.

no affiliation to QBP,
cheers and good luck with the search,
linh

with regards to being able to setup a set of HS-33s, I think it would work judging by how tall the brakearch goes on this particular adapter - it seems like there is enough flat space to accommodate the upper support arms of the evolution adapters. however, I must say that this is only a good guess on my part and in no way do I hope you find my statement as expert enough to take blindly - I do not assume any liability in this instance financially or otherwise (sorry dude).

once again, happy hunting,
linh
