Jagwire on my XT disc....(1 post)

Jagwire on my XT disc....Sofa
Jan 11, 2002 7:21 PM
OK, my brother bought me a disc brake when I sent him to pick my new wheelset - I ordered them from Toronto, and he was coming up(makes up for the black eyes and bloody noses growing up!)
However, for some reason, the guy at the bike shop who sold him the brake (not the guy who I generally deal with from the same store) who probably should've know the XT doesn't come with a hose never suggested he get one. (I know they are different lengths, but give me a BRAKE, he could've mentioned something)

Oh well, easy to pick up a hose, I had no experience with discs, so I went to get them installed at a store where the guy had no Shimano lines, so he put on a Jagwire line (without telling me...although it was obvious, he should have gotten my permission to do that, shouldn't he of?) anyways, I have Jagwires on. Today after a wipeout, the bottom washers/nut combo leaked out (on the pads that I never changed when they got oil on them...oooh I woulda been choked!) so I've got my new pads on that I had for spares. I tightened up the connection, after I greased all the washers and connections -they weren't greased to begin with, maybe this helped the oil leak out? - keeping in mind not to block any holes. Now I have to brake in another goddamn set of pads, but hopefully these piece of crap lines will hold.
Not really asking advice, as I know that an XT line would solve the problem, just letting everyone know that if you go 2 weeks without something breaking...watch out!
