Hayes Hydraulic Rotor / Bore repair?(3 posts)

Hayes Hydraulic Rotor / Bore repair?Mr Blur
Jan 12, 2002 7:48 PM
Has anyone had to replace their Hayes Hydraulic Piston & Bore? Can someone give me any tips or advice? ( 1 disc pad fell out during transport, consequently ripped the rotor when I rode the bike)

That's the bad news. Good news? Cambriabike.com is 1 mile downhill.

I'd really appreciate any help...

Unfortunately the machining to hold the square seal in the bore is a bit too precise to be fixed easily. You'll probably be spending the $40 or whatever for a new caliper half which includes the new piston.

It seems the integrity of the Piston , Square seal, Bore is intact. I'll be attempting to replace the damaged piston / Square seal assembly shortly. If I can just figure out a way to bleed the hydraulic system w/ out the aid of a bike stand.

Thanks a whole bunch!
