Avid has Arch Supreme bearings for $2 a piece...Metroid

They didn't have any last year when I inquired but they are back in stock for a measly $2 each + $5 for the nifty tool. That's quite a bit cheaper than I remember them being a couple years ago. A swell deal if you still have these ancient relics.

Once again, kudos to Avid for their top notch customer service and tech dept.

I visited their site. can't find 'em.

What a price! I bought a set of bearings and the tool about three or four years ago and I think I paid, like, $50.
b *BANG!*
That was the sound of the gun at my temple.

I'd like to pick some of the bearings up. Please tell me where you found them at that price.

Also, I sincerely doubt that Avid was out of them when you inquired last year. I'm not doubting you, I just think some too-busy employee ditched you because they didn't want to take the time. My reasoning? First, before Dennis left Avid last year he told us (on this very board) that they had plenty of replacement AS bearings -- enough to last "for years." Second, why would Avid go into production of these things for a discontinued product, only to then dump them at $2 apiece, far less than they originally cost? No matter, I just think you received the first and only example of bad customer service from Avid that I've personally ever heard about. THEN AGAIN, I COULD BE ALL WRONG.

Just speculating. I'm stuck at home with a banged up leg. can't go to work, can't go riding. bored to near death. somebody help me, please.

Give them a call...Metroid

I just emailed them about the bearings last week. Dan emailed me back with the great news. I was just wanted one to replace a completely seized bearing but at that price, I ordered a whole set and the tool.

Bad service from Avid? I don't think so! The guy may have been mistaken but he did send me a set of Arch Supreme springs for nothing. So it wasn't a brush off. So you were wrong. :)

Get well soon...
Thanks & glad to hear itsparticus

Thanks for going easy on me about being wrong. After all, it's my first time.

Yeah,
i right!

And thanks for the "get well" wish, too. It won't be long 'til I'm back on the bike so's I can hurt myself again. I'm one of those guys who demands his money's worth out of whatever he buys, including health insurance. I'm gonna get the best of those guys yet!

:D
