| Hayes... | Mr Blur Jan 14, 2002 8:49 PM | | How exactly do I center the caliper? (Isn't it supposed to be already centered when I bolted both sides together? I just finished rebuilding the piston / square seal assembly and I'm perplexed by this step? |
| re: Hayes... | The notorious R.O.B. Tighten the 2 mount bolts while you're still squeezing the lever. Don't forget the torque wrench! |
| re: Oops. | Mr Blur Jan 15, 2002 2:52 PM | | Mount bolts that bolt to the front shock,eh? :-) Not the bolts holding the two calipers halves together? Sorry, I'm not very mechanically enclined.
Mr. Blur (Everything is a blur to me now, after my Hayes Hydraulic DOT 4 fluid squirted into my eyes...but alas the BLUR will be out this summer) :) |
| yes............. | heff® Jan 16, 2002 8:38 AM | | ......you need to center the rotor in the caliper. Do as the other guy said, leave the caliper mount bolts loose (the ones that hold the dang thing to yer bike), squeeze the lever, tighten the mounting bolts (the same ones you left loose) while squeezing the lever. Hold the lever solid, don't pump it......just thought I'd throw that in, so you didn't squeeze it like yer girlfriends.......er.........you know.
