Any recommendation on brake levers that you can actually use with one finger? The Avids are pretty good and I love the modulation, but do/did they make a lever which is either shorter or closer to the bar? Shimano XTs feel good and are much more controllable with one finger but not as nice of a modulation... What about Paul love levers?any recommendations?

Thanks,

Jamie

What about set up">???

Try this set up.
If the brake studs are 95-105 mm apart. Set the tips of the arms at 135 + - 5 mm. apart. Now: Set the yoke the, thing that hang in the middle of the two arms, 3/4 " - 1 " above the tire.

Oh that was for Cantis:

I just like to add this ok. One can rig up a cantis style straddle- wire and yoke to V brakes, too. This works better then V arms and V levers. But Shimno reps will of course advise against this, or make some excause etc. ( start with the arm 1's now.)
Or try Grafan cantis lever, ( It's upgrade time, big time $$$.
Cantis have all the modulation- but I won't tell you about slow speed contorl, when using a shorter wheel base.
Just set the brake up for the fun stuff. NM.

... mount the levers farther in along the bar and then use the lever position adjusting screws to get the lever tips closer to the grips. After that just set up the cable looseness so the lever locks where you want. If you're running rapid fires you may want to mount them on the outside of the brake levers. Or this may just get in the way. I'm not 100% sure of what you're trying to do here.

And if you're using Speedial levers you should be able to adjust the modulation to your taste with the Dial. I'm using these and I use one finger all the time but I set the levers up so they don't move far.

And in the end if thy lever length offends thee then ye may partake of the services of a hacksaw....
