| Should I trade my Maguras for Hayes? | Finch Platte Apr 2, 2002 7:23 AM | | I've got a set of Magura Julies on the Jekyll (I had a set of Claras before, which gave me no end of problems- Cannondale warranteed them for me & upgraded me to the Julies). The Julies are ok, when they work, but my mechanic can't seem to get a bug out of the rear- they fade and the lever will pull almost to the grip (especially near the bottom of a steep hill, of course).
I'm able to upgrade to the 2002 Hayes HFX Comp brakes for a great price. Should I go for it?
Thanks,

| Is............ | Mike T. Apr 2, 2002 9:10 AM | | ......the mechanic using the new bleeding instructions for all Magura brakes? If the new instructions are not used then it's impossible to get all the air out of a brake and performance certainly will be compromised. The info is on Magura's website.

Like Mike T sez and there's new brake fluid about to be released to get rid of any pump, should be out shortly, that should fix you up. those are good brakes, but I finger the bleeding isn't quite right. It can be a bit finickity, but when done right, you can get back to just focussing on the ride, and never mind the brakes 'cuase they just work. email jimi@maguara.com if yer stuck, eh? Cheers, Jim
BTW. week of June 10, are you around? Me 'n K'Endo are tentatively targetting that week for a road trip. Jim MCM #11 |
