| Has anyone used car disc brake anti sqeal stuff? | Mercury Apr 2, 2002 1:52 PM | | I'm pretty sure that the reason that brakes sqeal is because they are vibrating back and forth in the caliper. Putting disc brake anti sqeal on car discs works by lightly gluing the pads to the pistons. This will prevent the pads from vibrating and it will be IMPOSSIBLE for the brakes to sqeal. The only thing that I'm worried about, is how good the glue is. Will it make it impossible to get the pads off to change them later? Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

Should work for bikes too, but make sure that you spread it very well (and pretty thin) on the pad, otherwise you might have a mushy brake.

| On a pivot bolt. | Nat Apr 2, 2002 3:46 PM | | I use it on a pivot bolt that is prone to squeaking and it works in that application. When I remove the bolt, the red stuff isn't too sticky, it's more gummy like dry loctite. I've wondered if it would be a good application on bike discs. Please let us know. |
