Brake Cable housing for rear V brakes...how long??!!??RkFast

How long should the brake cable housing be for rear V brakes on a hardtail...going from the rear cable stay to the noodle. Ive seen the housing cut short and almost straight....Ive seen it long and looping over the seat post clamp.

Any suggestions?

I like to make mine so that the housing with no cable has a neutral action on the noodle. That is the noodle is not jammed into the little cage so hard it's sitting against the arm and not so short that it's trying to lift the noodle out of place.

To set it up I rubberband the arms into place against the rim and then play with the housing length until I'm happy. Cut it a 1/4 to 1/2 inch longer than you think you need and fine tune from there.
