Do I need adaptor to mount Shimano disc brakes on Manitou?(3 posts)

Do I need adaptor to mount Shimano disc brakes on Manitou?SFrider

I have a Manitou X-Vert Air and was wondering if I need an adaptor to mount my Shimano XT Disc brakes (currently on a Rock Shox SID SL) on it. Also, I am considering Formula Activa mechanical disc brakes, would I need an adaptor for those. Has anyone had experience with Formula Activa disc brakes? Thanks
Don't all Manitou forks use a post mount?AndyH

If so, yes...you will need an adapter as your current Rock Shox has the standard IS mount.
You need the larger rotor tooNor'Easter

You will need the adaptor and the 170mm rotor as the adaptor moves the caliper 5mm out from the hub.
