Weird XT brake drag problem(3 posts)

Weird XT brake drag problemMario

Hello, well I think I have a weird rear brake dragging problem, well weird for a non mechanic like me!!! Anyway, I think I tried everything the documentation said, spacers, bleeding,... my rear brake is always fine when it's on the stand but after I start pedaling a little hard it starts dragging again. What I find "weird" is that after it starts dragging, if I just depress the lever a little bit and hold it, it stops, then as soon as I release it, it starts again! Sometimes the dragging is constant, sometimes it's clear the the rotor is touching at only a specific point.

Any suggestions? Please nothing like trow them in the garbage!

Thanks a lot.
Check the bearings in your hub for any play...AndyH

...loose bearings could result in a wheel that shifts slightly from side to side which could cause the brakes to drag on the rotor. I started noticing a slight amount of rotor drag with my XT discs and my Crossmax UST Disc wheels under power. Adjusting the bearings in the hig a bit solved the problem for me.
is your rotor warped?Sproket_the_Rocket

Another reason, apart from the loose/ wrong size bearing problem is that your rotor has been hit or dropped at some point, resulting in a wobble somewhere. It sounds like your brake caliper is badly aligned with the rotor, but I can't tell you that for sure without seeing it in person.
