Does my ManitouBlack's flex warrant a brake booster?(4 posts)

Does my ManitouBlack's flex warrant a brake booster?jared

It seems that the v-brake posts on my Black Elite flex a lot, and it's hard to control the front brake sometimes (Especially w/ endos) Is it a common problem, or is it just me? I've been thinking about getting a brake booster (a Moonlighter looks cool) but I don't want to add the weight to my bike if it wouln't help at all. Does anyone else have this problem? Also, it might be a problem w/ the brakes, Shimano 420s (I'm not sure if that's the equivalent or Deore or not, but they definitely aren't XTRs) Thanks for any help,
Tom

You won't get a Moonlighter, though, he stopped making them a little over two years ago.

Try a Salsa booster first.Twilight Error®

They're fairly cheap (but heavy) and you'll know whether or not a booster will help your situation without dropping a lot of cash.
Salsa brake booster (carbon)PiroChu

I have one of those in the back, as my seat-stays are too thin/soft & bend/flex under braking. (My front brakes seem to be OK without it, thanks to stiff Marzocchi.)

A regular aluminum one weighs 110g, but Salsa also has a carbon
one which weighs 68g.

I've never actually seen the carbon ones around, though - only seen it on their website.
(I don't know how much more it'll cost for a carbon one.)
