| Magura Clara setup issues.. (1999 model) | magura29 Jul 14, 2002 6:03 PM | | I have just had a set of Magura Clara's installed on my Cannondale F3000. They are running on Mavic X317's. Unfortunately it seemed to be a rushed installation done on them. The rear brake has no pull almost like air in the lines or something. it is really loose and bounges around on rides like crazy..no pressure on it whatsoever. I brought it to another dealer (although not Magura liscensed dealer) to have them examine it. So I ordered a bleed kit for it, and am waiting for it to arrive, my question is this.
When I am riding with it I have a ton of squealing, and MAJOR drag going on in the back end. So every now and then I get of the bike and check the wheel...adjusting the quick release to accomodate with the drag... but it always cpmes back and it is getting annoying... Will bleeding the brakes properly assist with this issue?
thanks in advance for your input..
ps. I checked and there is no warp in the caliper... thanks |
| Seeing as................ | Mike T. Jul 14, 2002 6:31 PM | | .....'99 Claras are manually adjustable (self adjusting came in 2001 for her) then the job was, if the brake is dragging, done by somone who is totally incompetant.
What your brakes need is a good bleed, a proper setup (slave alignment) and pad adjustment. This is basic stuff if the person has the knowledge, some 0.2mm shims, a 5mm allen wrench and a bleed kit.
Don't bother going back to any bike shops as you can't tell the experts from the bluffers until it's too late. Read all the tips on my Magura Cult Homepage and download the entire manual from Magura's own site.
