That's odd, noisy Hayes hydros... :(Lou S

Please help. My fronts are quiet and beautiful. My rears are noisy, high-pitched like a car with cheap brake pads. Anyway, I squeezed the brake levers as the caliper was loose on the bracket then tightened, no help. I cleaned the rotor surface and pads with non-chlorinated brake cleaner, no help. I've loosened the caliper and tightened it one way on the trail and then the other, no help either way.
I'm thinking of swapping pads from front to rear and vice versa. If the noise moves then what are some good replacement pads for XC? If the noise doesn't move then any ideas?
Thanks.
Lou.

Any advice for me?
Am I on the right track?
Thanks.
Lou.

I would switch pads first and also make sure all bolts are tight (including the rotor). A loose bolt can cause it. You could also try cleaning behind the pads with some alcohol. Have heard all these things can help...

Thanks for the tip, I never heard of cleaning the back side of the pads.
I'm also going to chamfer the leading edge of the pads, that's what the LBS told me today.
BTW, you thinking about the 03 Cobra?
Thanks.
Lou.
