unless you use a Hammerhead adapter ( http://www.racing-green.com )

There is not enough room in the rear triangle for and adapter and the caliper

So they make the hayes hydraulic able to go on 22mm mounts but not their new mech disc? Okay hayes is retarded..What hammerhead adaptor do i get? Looks like they cost like 85 dollars thats how i paid for the damn brakes..
Hayes tried to make the 22mm the standard in '99 or soshiggy

on the rear and 68mm on the front. Most of the other brake companies refused and came up with the current IS standard which Hayes now uses but only with an adaptor to convert from their new post mount "standard" of 74mm.

Your problem is the older frame, not the newer brakes.

Just the joys of new technology. At least all new disc components work together (excluding the '03 XTR.)

The rear caliper is 74mm and came with an adaptor to make it IS.

The HammerHead disc adapter is for international standard callipers, 51mm hole centres and the inside edge is inline with the inside of the dropout this will allow fitment of any currently available disc brake calliper, hydraulic or cable operated (mechanical) and can be used with Hayes Standard callipers in conjuction with Hayes International Standard Adapter.

So that means i use the adaptor i use and the hammerhead one?

Check with the frame maker to see if they have an adaptor.
I have a Klein with 22mm mounts and had to get an IS adaptor from them. I just mounted Avid mechs with no problems after that.
Nevermind...huh-huh....you said chainstayagent9
