Shimano XT , Giant AIR brake feel question.(1 post)

Shimano XT , Giant AIR brake feel question.byron in Salt Lake

Thanks all- Hey, i ride a Giant Air with Shimano Hydro's. This is my question. Front brake seems to have double the stopping power of the rear. It seems hard to modulate on a big downhill, due to the quick stop power in front versus 50% "power/pull feel" vs the rear. The problem is when i start to skid with the rear tire (pulling pretty hard on the rear brake) and reach to grab the front a bit, it's easy to go over the top. This is my first ride with hydro's. Oil seems clear, pads seem good. Is this normal or should i be feeling and getting the same stopping power front vs. rear, or is this a learning curve with knowing how to modulate front and back on the steep ones?
