i am buying a sugar 2+ that comes stock with avid sd5 direct pull and xt levers. i want to change out the brakes to shimano or avid mechanical discs. does anyone know if i can us the stock xt levers?

is the same and will work with all "v-brake'" levers. So yes, the levers will work with the mech brakes. Do yourself a huge favor and get the Avids.

* Selection of rotor sizes (160, 185, 203mm + adapter)
* Adjustability (adjustable spring tension, toolless pad adjustments + adjustable engagement point)
* Simple pad replacement
* EXCELLENT Avid customer service
* Reasonable price

Plus the power/control and quiet operation you'd expect with any good disc brake system. I'm up to 5 Avid disc setups on the bikes in my household — it's really hard to go wrong with their setup.

way better power. Shimano hasnt worked the mechs out yet
